Useful tips before buying a Personal Computer.

Dear friends,

It is true that computer prices have slashed in the past 2-3 years. One also needs to see that technology is taking a new shape. Every new technology will always cost more than old technology.

Now, when you think of buying a new computer you should analyze the purpose of it. It is no point in buying a hi-end computer if your use is going to using basic softwares like billing, accounting software (tally), emailing etc.
Incase your use of computer is going to for 3D development (AutoCad, 3D Studio etc.), programming (Oracle, VB, etc.), Latest 3D games, you should go for a Hi-End Computer.

Brand new assembled computer can cost you anything between Rs. 14,000/- to Rs. 50,000/- depending upon the configuration. Obviously, the components in the Rs. 14,000/- will be chipset 3rd party material and low-grade. That means life of the computer will be much shorter. The computer will be less sturdy and will be unstable. There will be a lot of after-sales-service issues.
The latest personal or desktop computers will range between Rs. 25,000 /- to Rs. 35,000/- depending upon the configuration.

The difference between branded computers and assembled computers is simple; the branded computers are assembled in bulk and assembled computers are not.
Okay now the cost part. A branded computer will always cost 20-30% more than assembled computer of the same configuration because a lot of taxes are levied.  Also, branded computers have models i.e. every model is a finished good and sold as one item.
Therefore, these companies considered under manufacturing companies.
On top of it when it is an ISO certified there has to be consistency in their products. To maintain such reputation lot of legal formalities are involved and the cost is hiked. One thing you can rest assure while buying a branded computer that the quality is not compromised.

Nonetheless, you can get exactly the same quality in an assembled computer. But how will you tell the difference. For that you have to know the details of every component which might not be possible. To avoid this one should call his friend or someone who has some knowledge of good components. If you don’t have such a person (which is not possible it today’s world) and if you feel that someone might cheat you with lower grade components, simply go for branded computers. The above case happens when a person is away from home town.

Also, it is advised that after receiving a quotation one should bargain but not pressure him in trimming down a lot. That way the vendor will be compelled in either calling off the deal or replacing components with lower grade material.

Ask for the details of all components. Ask them why a component is better or worse than the other. Ask for popular brands.

I think after a little research on computer will help you get a better deal.
